Respected IIA India Members, all Internal Audit, Risk and Governance Professionals
I hope all of you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy.
I am happy to announce that we are holding our much-awaited annual conference on March 2 and 3, 2022 in a virtual mode, considering the safety and well-being of our members, supporters and well-wishers is our top most priority. The theme for this conference “Future Ready – Innovate, Innovation, Innovauditor” has attracted prolific speakers and sponsors; please look out on social media for the agenda, topics and speakers. Registration will soon start and hence please block your seat at the earliest. We are launching some exciting events at the annual conference specially the internal audit premier league (IAPL) and hence do look out for more details and see how you could be the Most Valuable Internal Auditor of the year 2022.
Based on request received from several members, we have started a program for collecting membership fees in advance for two or three years with discounted prices for both new and existing members including early payment discount. Hence, please evaluate that option when you renew to save the hassles of future timely renewals. Our membership year is April to March each year and our renewal process is already underway.
With the various disruptions due to pandemic, change in business models due to technology intervention and advent of innovative start-ups; focus of 2022 will be training and developing newer skill and competency in line with changing trends. This will be critical to our survival and growth. We are looking for opportunities around training gamification and are in talks with an international IA training institute to offer annual membership to our members at a discounted price. While the annual membership fee may appear to be high, in reality the mode of delivery and training content offered is of high quality and works out to around Rs 200 per Learning & Development (L&D) hour. Total training content will be in excess of 150 hours each year with new training content being added regularly. Would encourage all corporates and individual members to have a look at this offering and assess integration with your respective L&D programs / initiatives.
Another important focus for 2022 would be to attract the younger generation of professionals to internal audit. I would say role of IA is akin to the role of home ministry of a country which looks at internal security (internal controls), border management (enterprise level risks), center state relationships (SoD/ Delegation of Authority), Management of armed forces (fraud investigation, information breach response) etc. The role of internal audit is very niche and we, as a group need to create that position and glamour.
Last but not the least; I humbly seek your support to have active participation and contribution in building IIA India as an excellent institution for the future. In line with the old proverb “A Stich in Time Save Nine”, I end my communique with “A disciplined action in time will save nine days of quarantine” – stay safe stay healthy.
Take care
